Ore properties

Silica is a general term for vein quartz, quartzite, and quartz sandstone. Mainly used in acid refractory bricks for metallurgical industry. Pure silica can be used as quartz glass or refined single crystal silicon. It is used in the chemical industry to prepare silicon compounds and silicates, and can also be used as a filler for sulfuric acid towers. The building materials industry is used for glass, ceramics, portland cement, etc. It can be used as the raw material for the smelting of ferrous alloys such as industrial silicon. There are two kinds of crystalline silica and amorphous silica in nature. Due to the different crystal structure, crystalline silica is divided into three types: quartz, scaly quartz and cristobalite. Pure quartz is a colorless crystal. Large, transparent prismatic quartz is called crystal. If the crystals containing trace impurities have different colors, there are amethyst, tea crystal, ink crystal and so on. Ordinary sand is a small quartz crystal, with yellow sand (more iron impurities) and white sand (less impurities and more pure).

Processing process

Commonly used beneficiation methods include ore washing, classification, scrubbing, gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation, chemical beneficiation, etc. The beneficiation process shall be determined according to the nature of the ore and the requirements for the quality of the concentrate. Raw chemical silica with pure chemical composition can be produced by wet or dry crushing, grinding, and grading. Ores with many impurity minerals or high product quality requirements, a combined process including several beneficiation methods, such as scrubbing, desliming, magnetic separation (or re-selection), and flotation processes, is required. The principle flow of silica or silica sand beneficiation is shown in the figure. If the raw ore is silica, the ore should first be crushed, screened, ground, and then entered into the sorting operation; when the raw ore is dry sand ore, water should be added to the pulp to remove coarse particles before entering the sorting operation; the raw ore is In wet sand ore, the coarse particles can be screened and sorted.
